Description
This artwork by Lasveguix is deeply rooted in the world of street art, paying homage to Invader's iconic imagery. The two pixelated figures, inspired by the classic Space Invaders video game, emerge at the center of the composition, partially covered by layers of torn paper, graffiti, and paint. The accumulation of these textures gives the impression of a living urban wall, bearing witness to the passage of time and the interaction between the artist and the city. Inscriptions such as "INVADER WAS HERE" reinforce the direct reference to the French street artist known for spreading his mosaics worldwide. The pastel color palette, blending blue, pink, and beige, contrasts with the raw nature of the torn layers and paint splatters, creating a balance between chaos and harmony. Through this piece, Lasveguix captures the essence of an ever-evolving urban art scene, where every trace left by an artist becomes a new layer of history.
Presentation
Guillaume Picart, known as Lasveguix, is a French artist from Seine-Saint-Denis, who began his artistic career as a graffiti artist under the pseudonym of Guix along the Canal de l'Ourcq, when he was teenager. After a break in artistic creation, he returned to his passion in 2022 and is currently working on the production of numerous works in various media, mainly inspired by the influence of pop art.
Lasveguix is directly inspired by Jacques Villeglé and Raymond Hains, and uses photographs of famous faces as well as torn posters to create his paintings. He then covers these supports with graffiti and splashes of paint, which gives life to colorful and powerful works, reminiscent of sections of urban walls torn from the street.
His artistic signature is based on his ability to give relief and volume to his paintings. He cultivates a real taste for the texture and material of torn paper, thus creating an impression of movement, by superimposing successive layers of paper.
