Sophie Bassot

Sophie Bassot or the enchanted space

In her nostalgia for elsewhere, Sophie Bassot experiences the hidden foundations of painted space, and her material palpitates, fleeing certainties. Primary, archaic, and germinative energies captivate the expanse. A latent, global, strong, insidious, and veiled color develops its enveloping modulations.

His pre-message word, hollowed out of the intimate sky and charged with archaic life, sharply increases the rate of mental compression. Self-revelation, in a happy melancholy. Visible and invisible part of the interior projected into the telluric mirror of creation.

The opacity, harassed, began to crack, chaos awoke, the signs were imbued with the warm and cruel vitality of colors.

In this naked painting combat, the artist, a dark magician, opens herself to the fundamentals of creation. She stages what smolders beneath the immense stage of appearances. Intensely lived matter, and each canvas breathes at the height of the universe. In each inhabited landscape, the artist disrupts the order of the world, displaying the Oedipal murder of the installed image. Sophie Bassot shakes our depths to the core, and the work reveals the enlarged field of subterranean perceptions. Very disturbing, a soft and dense contagion acts, through the artistic effect of a painting of high substance. The colors, of earthy origin, speak of the primordial link with the ground. Monumental and heavenly writing.

Sophie Bassot experiences the density of things, as if she were connecting, from within, the lines of force of man and the universe. She paints the indistinguishable web of being and the cosmos, when the lines of the outside meet those of the inside. A gaze between two abysses, in the innumerable space, when the body is lost in the vertigo of the original lights.

“These landscapes are my journeys," she says.
