Presentation
Sylwia Michalska (b. 1978, Poznań, Poland) is a contemporary painter whose artistic practice is rooted in both abstraction and figuration. She graduated in Painting from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn in 2002, under the guidance of Professor Wojciech Sadley. She currently lives and works in Silesia, while remaining deeply connected to the landscapes and atmosphere of Warmia and Masuria, which serve as a constant source of inspiration.
Her works often combine delicate, atmospheric brushstrokes with a poetic abstraction that evokes memory, emotion, and fragments of the natural world. Using acrylics and oils on canvas — and at times experimenting with older wooden supports — Michalska creates luminous seascapes, abstract horizons, and floral motifs. She frequently incorporates subtle metallic accents, such as copper and gold, which enrich her color palette with a sense of mystery and reverie.
