Description
This artwork presents a sketch in vibrant pink, capturing an elegantly poised figure exuding sophistication and style. The subject, depicted with flowing lines and minimalistic flair, wears eye-catching earrings and a chic attire, highlighted by bold strokes that suggest movement and grace. The name “Schiaparelli” is inscribed, indicating a possible nod to the iconic fashion aesthetic known for its avant-garde designs. The subject’s expressive eyes and refined posture evoke a sense of mystery and allure, drawing the viewer into a world of high fashion. Unique features such as the oversized earrings and abstract detailing around her hand accentuate the whimsical yet sophisticated nature of the piece. The artwork’s simplicity in form, yet complexity in expression, reflects an innovative blend of fashion and artistry, making it a distinguished creation that celebrates elegance with a touch of surrealism.
Presentation
The worlds of fashion, society and pop culture are explored through the illustrations of Manuel Santelices, a Chilean artist and journalist living and working in New York for the last 20 years. After writing stories about style, design, art and politics for a number of magazines, including the Spanish editions of Elle, Harper's Bazaar and Esquire, and being fashion writer in New York for Vogue Mexico and Latin American for 7 years, Manuel decided to focus his attention to illustration, painting mostly with watercolors the same characters and events he covered as a journalist.
