Description
This artwork features a striking pink rose, centrally positioned against a stark black background. The rose, painted with exquisite detail, appears to float, its delicate petals beginning to fall. A piece of newspaper headler tape horizontally slices through the stem, adding an element of surrealism, world news and intrigue. The juxtaposition of the rose's natural beauty against the matte black backdrop amplifies its vivid color, creating a sense of drama and focus. The ornate gold frame, with its intricate floral motifs, adds a touch of classical elegance, contrasting the modern minimalism of the central image. This piece masterfully combines elements of traditional and contemporary art, evoking themes of fragility and the passage of time. Its simplicity is deceptive, inviting viewers to explore deeper meanings and interpretations.
Presentation
Dekel Harari is a contemporary mixed-media artist, his practice explores routine, repetition, information overload, and the moment when habit takes control and the mind stops questioning. Newspapers are his primary material. Not because of their content, and not because they are free, but because of their physical presence — their texture, weight, fragility, and the quiet familiarity of the object itself. He changes their function. Instead of reading them and discarding them, he cuts them, paints over them, and constructs with them. Sometimes, they even re-enter circulation as artworks. The question, for him, is not simply what we do, but when an action ceases to be automatic and becomes a conscious choice. And what else might shift, if we paused long enough to actually think
