Jean-francois Larrieu   Famous Artists

A painter inhabited by an invisible force. A painting that is both singular and universal. A "whole" identified at first glance which is in fact the assembly of a multitude of elements, entities. Entities each in their place, responding to a defined architecture, complex and simple at the same time as Life is.

Emotion

Combining maturity and innocence, Larrieu's work touches the viewer as much as the painter himself. No need to understand why. The emotion is enough.

Larrieu plays with colors, most often in warm and shimmering tones. This is what gives his paintings energy and movement. The abundance of details, far from disturbing the eye of the spectator, brings a gentle serenity to the work as a whole. Larrieu's paintings are thus solar. They exude joy, tenderness too. They are the image of life, sensitive and whole.

Larrieu's painting is based on accumulation, on a set of codes, on an unknown language whose words would be triangles, circles and squares, which, assembled, form an explicit and audible whole. The Larrieu style thus drifts from the abstraction of the infinitely small to the figuration of the infinitely large. Observing a painting by Larrieu is a perpetual discovery. The journey is never the same, we always come back to it with a fresh look, a new emotion.

This painting so personal and dreamlike, Larrieu uses it to convey his message. Through his favorite subjects, which are fauna (natural or urban), flora or even the ocean, he pays homage to nature and all the forms of life it contains. The reaffirmation of the roots, the return to the sources, the great creations of man, the absolute necessity of plants, this is all that Larrieu invokes through his pictorial language. It thus underlines and sublimates the richness of nature and the pure emotion it provides. And at a time when the planet is suffering, he also has the will to question the role of Man in its preservation.
