Description
A sandy expanse opens up under an aerial view. Solitary silhouettes cross this immense space. Each character moves according to their own trajectory. Their shadows stretch long on the ground. This play of lines creates a rigorous visual rhythm. The clothing brings touches of bright colors. Yellow, blue, and red contrast with the neutrality of the setting.
The artist explores here the place of man in the face of the void. Silence and solitude permeate the composition. The technique mixes acrylic with sand to accentuate the material. This tactile relief reinforces the sensation of aridity. The scene evokes a quest for freedom in a stripped-down environment. The movement of the bodies suggests a calm wandering. The uniform light crushes the volumes. This figurative painting captures a moment of daily life. The whole rests on a balance between minimalism and dynamism. The grain of the support emphasizes the texture of the landscape.
Presentation
From the beginning, Marcos Zrihen's artistic reflection revolves around the place of man in his environment, in particular in the urban environment. Today his work turns around the emptiness and loneliness of big spaces. Whether in cities or by the sea, the lanscapes protray by the artist are always vast, populated by small characters whose stretched shadows reflect the misguidance. Two recent trips to the Sinai Desert and to the Australian Plains led the artist to use these spaces in his canvases, depicting men, nature, light, silence, loneliness, worry as well. Seizing the dynamism of life, Marcos Zrihen's canvases propose us a quest for freedom.
