Description

Blue, violet, cream, and soft yellow hydrangeas gather across this original oil on canvas in thick, expressive layers of paint. The artwork was painted from life after the artist brought a young hydrangea plant from northern Bali to her studio in Ubud. Over time, the blossoms gradually shifted from violet toward blue, turning the plant itself into a quiet lesson in change.

That transformation connects the work to , the Buddhist idea of impermanence encountered through vipassana meditation. Rather than illustrating the concept directly, the artwork lets the flowers embody it. Heavy impasto gives the petals a sculptural presence, while deep green foliage and vertical drips add rhythm and movement.

This piece is ideal for collectors who love botanical art with both texture and meaning. It brings richness and calm to a living room, bedroom, study, or meditation space and also makes a thoughtful gift for someone drawn to flowers, Bali, meditation, or contemplative living.

Presentation

Mily ART (Emiliia) is a contemporary painter based in Ubud, Indonesia. She graduated in 2015 from the Russian University of the Academy of Education in Moscow with a degree in Fine Arts.

Working primarily in oil with a palette knife, Emiliia creates expressive impasto paintings defined by rich texture, bold color, and dynamic movement. Her visual language is built through thick layers of paint, flowing drips, and energetic strokes that emphasize the physical presence of the medium. The surface of the canvas becomes an active field where color, light, and gesture interact.

Nature is the central source of her inspiration. Flowers and landscapes encountered during her travels transform into emotional landscapes—vivid, blooming compositions that reflect vitality, freedom, and renewal. Her ongoing series Flowing Flowers explores the sensation of awakening life, using intensified hues and sculptural impasto to convey emotional release and movement.

Emiliia often begins with plein air studies or travel photography, later developing these impressions into large-scale works. Rather than reproducing nature, she translates its energy into tactile color fields, allowing paint itself to embody growth and motion.

Her work has been presented in international and national exhibitions, including The Color of Summer at the Ostankino TV Tower (2024) and The Flower Kingdom at the Moscow Union of Artists (2022), where her painting Peonies received First Prize. She held a solo exhibition at IZO Gallery in Moscow in 2019.

Through expressive oil painting and sculptural texture, Emiliia creates contemporary works that celebrate the emotional power of nature—inviting viewers to slow down, feel presence, and reconnect with color as a living force.
