Description
Four paintings. A composition you can continually rediscover.
This set of four original paintings by Inna Pupina offers a rich exchange between colour, movement and space. Each canvas has its own identity, while a shared charcoal-grey ground connects the ensemble.
Bright blue, pink, orange, green, yellow and violet appear in layered passages alongside white gestures and gold-toned accents. Scraped textures, scattered droplets and fine looping lines introduce details that reward close observation.
FOUR DISTINCT RHYTHMS
One composition gathers colour into horizontal layers beside an open dark field. Another establishes an upright sequence of vivid strokes. A third carries the eye diagonally across the surface, while a fourth develops a broad curved movement around a darker centre.
Together, these different structures create an ensemble with both coherence and variety. The paintings can be arranged to emphasise flowing movement, stronger contrasts or a balance between colour and open space.
A CHANGING RELATIONSHIP WITH LIGHT
The surfaces reveal different qualities as illumination changes. Soft daylight brings out the colour relationships; light from the side makes raised paint and surface texture more apparent. Warmer evening illumination can give greater prominence to the gold-toned passages and warm colours.
These variations allow familiar details to emerge differently over time, enriching the experience of living with the paintings.
A MODULAR ENSEMBLE
Each canvas measures 30 × 30 × 3 cm.
For four fixed positions, the paintings offer 24 different arrangements without rotating the canvases. They can also be separated into two pairs, with three possible ways to form those pairings, or displayed individually across a connected interior.
Recommended dimensions with 3 cm between adjacent canvases, stated as height × width × depth:
Square arrangement, two by two:
63 × 63 × 3 cm.
Horizontal row:
30 × 129 × 3 cm.
Vertical column:
129 × 30 × 3 cm.
Two separate horizontal pairs:
Each pair measures 30 × 63 × 3 cm.
Two separate vertical pairs:
Each pair measures 63 × 30 × 3 cm.
Spacing may be adjusted to suit the wall, allowing the ensemble to occupy a more intimate or expansive area.

Presentation
Inna Pupina is a contemporary painter whose practice centres on the emotional life of landscape. Working exclusively in acrylic on canvas, she develops compositions that move beyond topographical description toward atmosphere, sensation and inner experience.
Her signature approach combines expressive layering, refined colour harmonies and a sustained attention to light — particularly the luminous, shifting quality of Nordic and Eastern European natural environments. Forests, water and sky recur throughout her work not as subjects to be recorded, but as vehicles for contemplating stillness, time and the passage between states.
Pupina's paintings are characterised by their chromatic depth: violets, blues and greens are built through successive transparent glazes, generating a sense of visual resonance that photographs rarely capture in full. The surface holds both spontaneity and control — gestural passages sit alongside areas of quiet precision, creating compositions that reward sustained looking.
Represented by Abstract Art Gallery since 2013, Inna Pupina's original works are held in private collections across Europe. Her paintings are appreciated for their capacity to transform a domestic or professional interior into a space of contemplation — present without being intrusive, decorative without being passive.
She exhibits internationally and continues to develop her practice from her studio in Riga, Latvia.
