Marine De Quénetain, Pause café
France

Presentation

Marine de Quénetain is a French textile artist, designer, painter, and creator of contemporary tapestries, recognized for her singular approach blending contemporary art, art craft, vegetable dyeing, natural fibers, and textile creation. Graduated from Camberwell College of Arts in London, where she studied Textile Design, she complements her education with a Master in Textile Futures at Central Saint Martins, one of the most prestigious design schools in the world. This dual education allows her to develop a practice where research into materials, chromatic experimentation, and artisanal know-how occupy a central place.

After several years spent in London, Marine de Quénetain settles in the south of France where she establishes her workshop. Her work explores the relationships between color, material, landscape, and time through textile works made from linen, wool, hemp, silk, and other natural fibers. She develops a visual language inspired by Mediterranean landscapes, ancestral textile traditions, vernacular architecture, and natural dyeing techniques. Vegetable pigments, dye baths, and artisanal processes constitute the heart of her creative process, giving birth to abstract compositions where nuances, superimpositions, and variations in texture play an essential role.

The artist collaborates closely with weaving workshops and specialized manufacturers to produce contemporary tapestries, wall art, art textiles, and custom pieces intended for both collectors and interior design projects. Her work establishes a dialogue between textile design, wall art, contemporary abstraction, and craft, while valuing environmentally respectful techniques and human-scale production. Light, seasons, landscapes, and natural phenomena deeply influence her color palette, characterized by soft, mineral, and organic tones.

Marine de Quénetain's creations have been presented at numerous exhibitions and fairs dedicated to contemporary design, crafts, and textiles, notably at Collectible Brussels, Revelations – International Biennale of Crafts and Creation at the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris, as well as within specialized galleries in Europe. Her work is regularly prescribed by international architects, decorators, and collectors for residential and institutional projects. By reconciling innovation, tradition, and aesthetic research, Marine de Quénetain establishes herself as a key figure in contemporary textile creation, art tapestry, sustainable design, textile art, and artisanal excellence, inscribing her work in a sensitive reflection on material, color, and landscape.
