About the artwork

Artwork sold in perfect condition

Egypt, Aswan Station (January 2011) The Egyptian rail network, inherited from the British, has more than 5,000 km of rails, mainly along the Nile. The country, regularly bereaved by serious accidents due to a dilapidated and poorly monitored network, began in 2018 a vast program to modernize the main line which connects the North and the South of the country, from Alexandria to Aswan. These improvements primarily target the low-income 40% of Egypt's population who rely on trains as an affordable means of transport. “Egypt, The Nile, the Train. Break free from space. Just being able to get from one place to another. Sometimes at the risk of his life as the rail network there produces its share of accidents. A young man smokes, feverish, entrenched behind a pane almost broken like a lifeline. What is he waiting for? Where is he going ? What is he running from? He just wants to move. »
