'On Vlieland' is David van Dartel's striking, ongoing series taken on the rugged West Frisian Island in the Wadden Sea, the Netherlands. Having visited Vlieland since childhood van Dartel has a deep affintiy with the Island, this is reflected in this body of work where he celebrates those close to him – friends and family.
He beautifully captures his subjects in these portraits, self portraits and landscapes. "You could describe the series as a kind of diary of the experiences on an island, but then a carefully styled diary." Van Dartel
