Description
This intriguing artwork features a floating, cloud-like mass composed of blue and white hues, evoking both lightness and density. It appears to defy gravity above a pastoral landscape, introducing a captivating sense of surrealism. The work's rich and complex texture, blending shades of deep blue with bursts of light, lends a powerful visual dynamic. The contrast between the celestial element and the terrain below, with its golden grasses, accentuates the dreamlike and mystical effect of the painting. This enigmatic floating intrigues and invites contemplation, questioning the boundary between reality and imagination. The interaction of natural light with the suspended object enriches the work, creating a play of shadows and reflections that enhances its visual and emotional impact.
"The images presented in this series speak of an imaginary and poetic time in which their movement is frozen like a vibrant freeze-frame." Michel Coste
Presentation
"Art is from nature grafted"
"... a stable and completed image cuts the wings of the imagination."
- Gaston Bachelard
It is from this type of words that Michel Coste works, trying to interpret them. For this, he captures through photography and video natural elements which are not at all exceptional at first sight but which serve as raw material to create amalgams and compositions which then take on another dimension and another meaning. In fact, he stages and choreographs nature with new conventions each time.
For him visual art does not only consist in interpreting reality as it is but in composing with it so as to create an interrogation on its deep identity, for this the arrival of the digital tool is an important advance s 'it is used wisely and with a real plastic project. In this he encourages visitors to no longer look at nature through the sole filter of banal beauty but to seek in the smallest detail a hidden interest favorable to the imagination and poetry.
The result is manifested in the form of prints on various media and film and video installations and has been the subject of more than 120 exhibitions since 1972.
