Description
Projects for private rites. London 1980, by Alvaro Herazo Fine prints Image size: 20 H x 30 W in. LE 3/10. Herazo belonged to Grupo 44, an artistic collective created in the late seventies and which was made up of the artists Álvaro Erazo, Delfina Bernal, Eduardo Hernández and Álvaro Barrios.
This artwork captivates with its surreal, abstract composition, showcasing a deft interplay of geometric forms and muted colors. Dominating the canvas is a large, enigmatic structure, rendered in soft grays, suggestive of both industrial machinery and organic rock formations. Its presence is counterbalanced by a bright yellow geometric shape, likely a pyramid, introducing a vibrant contrast that draws the viewer's eye. The textured background adds depth and complexity, its subtle gradations and markings evoking a sense of timelessness and mystery. The piece invites contemplation, encouraging the viewer to ponder the relationship between the mechanical and the natural, the known and the unknown. The deliberate ambiguity and the artist’s skillful use of light and shadow imbue the work with a haunting, dreamlike quality, making it a compelling subject of both aesthetic appreciation and intellectual curiosity.
