Description
Born in 1975 in Alès, in the south of France. My artistic journey began at the Applied Arts in Nîmes, then Toulouse. It is through a famous Parisian advertising agency that I sharpen my line, my aestheticism. And it was first as a storyboarder that I started freelancing in 1998. Drawing in particular for Dior and Jean-Paul Gaultier films ... In 2003, I started a career as an illustrator. My heart swings between fashion illustration, press and the world of childhood, materials, and poetry. Today I navigate between these two worlds. My eye is sensitized by contemporary women. It is by looking for the accessory and the attitude that I accentuate its personality and its originality. I like to define the contours by a vacuum. The reliefs and colors are highlighted by the materials of the fabric. I attach a lot of importance to the patterns and the folds of the fabric. In 2013, I appear in the art book "100 illustrators" of Taschen editions, which lists the 100 world illustrators of the moment. Taschen also notes my work in the book "Illustration now, Fashion!" ...
Presentation
Sophie Griotto was born in 1975 in Alès. She studied applied arts in Nîmes and then in Toulouse before moving to Paris where she worked for a large advertising agency. In 1988, she started working as a freelancer, as a storyboarder, which led her to make films for prestigious houses such as Dior or Jean-Paul Gaultier. She then decided to turn to illustration in 2003.
Her illustrations are inspired by the world of fashion, the world of media, the world of childhood and poetry. Women play a main role in her creations, she is represented in all her modernity.
Sophie Griotto uses a lot of fabric, which allows her to highlight the colors and patterns.
In 2014, Sophie Griotto was entrusted with the decoration of a Parisian hotel located at the rue de la Paix.
The illustrator is part of the art book "100 Illustrators" as well as in "Illustration now, Fashion" by Taschen.
