Description
This dynamic sculpture captures the essence of motion and artistry in its intricate design. Crafted from turquoise-hued metal wire, the piece depicts a musician passionately engaged in playing a cello. The wirework is masterfully intertwined, suggesting fluidity and rhythm, while retaining a delicate, airy quality. Mounted on a solid black marble base, the contrast emphasizes the sculpture's vibrant energy and intricate detailing. The distinct texture of the wire gives the figure an ethereal, almost abstract quality, inviting viewers to connect with the imagined sound and emotive performance. The subtle patina on the wire hints at a timeless quality, enhancing its artistic allure. This work uniquely combines elements of music and visual art, creating a harmonious narrative that speaks to the universal language of creativity and expression.
Presentation
Karen Axikyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia, in 1963. He has always loved art and lives there. At different periods of his life, Karen Axikyan was interested in different spheres of art. First he drew oil paintings, then he started painting beautiful batik scarves, and then he moved on to the amazing world of sculptures.
In short, he is interested in everything related to art. For the past 15 years, he has been creating metal sculptures. It is said that he has a huge zoo with his different and wild animals. As Karen Axikyans says, he does not decide which animal what type of emotion the sculpture should have, he decides its emotion. Without having any cultural education, he was always in art, the only education he received was the artist who was his neighbor and he generally spent his time following the artists' works.
Karen Axikyan says metal is an instrument through which she can convey her emotional states. When creating a sculpture, her soul seems to be cleansed. Her latest collection is called "Little World" because the sculptures are so small they can fit in the palm of her hand.
