Description
This captivating work of art features an elegantly sculpted light green pear with a striking volume effect. The sinuous curve of the pear draws the eye to its bitten central portion, revealing a smooth, bright white interior. A royal blue butterfly delicately alights at the bite point, adding vibrant contrast and a touch of mystery to the composition. The pear's long, slender stem accentuates the object's natural elegance. The combination of nature and consumption, suggested by the bite, evokes themes of transience and ephemeral beauty. This sculpture embodies a bold marriage of realism and symbolism, captivating the viewer with its eloquent simplicity and sophisticated detail.
Presentation
Dominique Rayou illustrates this dual requirement and that consideration of the human and the abstract, the visible and the invisible, the actual presence as affective as well as a reflection on which we are still uncertain. The theme of the human body is privileged, not in its entirety, but by focusing on the creation of partial representations : hands, arms and especially busts, alone or in pairs.
Figuration itself is associated with geometric shapes that materialize somehow mental projections of the artist. His work then joined naturally our own concerns and ideas, the search for harmony in shapes and proportions and a more abstract fragmentation, the attention of the artist to our human condition, our emotions and our aspirations.
