Amazone Terra no.23 is a contemporary ceramic sculpture inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, which celebrates the beauty of imperfection, the traces of time, and living matter.
This work belongs to the Les Amazones Terra collection, a series of unique sculptures. The number accompanying its name corresponds to its order of creation within this collection.
Born of earth and silence, the Amazone Terra stand as sacred figures. They do not speak, but their presence says it all: they watch, protect, and preserve that which is too fragile to be displayed. They are the protectors of souls, the keepers of secrets, the silent witnesses of our rebirths..
The material remains deliberately raw. The textures, reliefs, and irregularities carry the memory of the gesture and reveal a free and instinctive earth. Each mark becomes the testimony of a transformation, where fragility fully participates in the strength of the work.
Artisanally made in my workshop in the Basque Country, this sculpture is a unique piece. It is signed by the imprint of my stamp in the clay before firing, making this signature an integral part of the work.
This sculpture originates from a modeling entirely done by hand, from which I then make a plaster mold myself to preserve the natural characteristics of the marbled stoneware. This process allows me to keep the white and gray veins of the material. A sculpture made only by modeling would gradually end up mixing the two earths and would make this natural marbling disappear.
I then create slabs of marbled stoneware that I stamp in my molds before building this sculpture entirely by hand. I start by shaping a slab of stoneware about one centimeter thick which forms the base. The contact surfaces of this slab and the two half-busts are then carefully scored and then assembled with slip to ensure a solid bond between the different elements. Once the clay is sufficiently hardened, I sculpt the cracks one by one by delicately removing material with a pointed tool. This entirely manual step gives this sculpture its relief, its balance, and its singular character.
This sculpture is then fired at 1250 °C.
Amazone Terra no.23 is a silent presence, designed to dialogue with its environment and offer a moment of pause, contemplation, and connection.

French ceramic artist, Leslie Daisy creates sculptures inspired by volcanic landscapes, eroded stone, lush vegetation, and the natural forces that slowly transform matter.
Her universe is aligned with an approach close to Wabi-Sabi: an aesthetic that celebrates imperfection, the traces of time, and the beauty of transformations.
After an initial career in artistic makeup and special effects, interrupted by the discovery of a genetic disease affecting her joints, she discovered clay three years ago. This living material quickly became her new artistic language.
Each sculpture is entirely handmade. Leslie works with sandstone, earthenware, and other materials such as resin or stabilized plants to create works where textures, light, and matter dialogue.
All her sculptures belong to the Cycle of the Amazons.
These female figures do not represent ideal heroines, but silent presences that advance, resist, and transform. They bear the traces of their history as the rock preserves those of time.
Some works, particularly luminous ones, reveal another facet of twilight. Light then becomes a material in itself, giving birth to an intimate and enveloping presence that transforms the perception of the sculpture.
Through them, Leslie wishes to offer moments of contemplation and to remind that strength and fragility can coexist, and that a flaw can sometimes become the starting point of a metamorphosis.
Today, her work is aimed at collectors, architects, hotels, and places where art dialogues with nature and architecture.
