Patrick Hughes is a British artist born in 1939 in Birmingham, renowned for his works that challenge visual perception. A master of optical illusion, he explores reverse perspective in creations where relief forms, often constructed as pyramids or three-dimensional boxes, appear to transform when viewed in motion. His paintings appear flat from the front, but reveal a striking depth when viewed from an angle, creating a dynamic interaction with the viewer.
Patrick Hughes, still active, continues to exhibit internationally. In 2023, his work was featured in major exhibitions in London, New York and Seoul, confirming his status as a leading contemporary artist. His works are included in several prestigious public collections, including those of the British Museum and the Tate Gallery. At over 80 years old, he remains a leading figure in the field of optical and kinetic art, blending humor, geometric rigor, and visual illusion.
