Biography
Stefaan Dheedene was born in 1975 in Belgium. He currently lives and works in Ghent. Stefaan Dheedene's sculptures often seem to echo the rational and functional ethos of modernism, as well as the current ubiquity of modern consumerist design. This approach, which Dheedene calls “repetition and reorganization”, perverts parameters linked to function, creating (semi) autonomous objects, oscillating between the realm of sculpture and that of the commodity. The extremely precise articulation of his work seems to capture the very idea of the artistic exhibition "in flagrante delicto".
