Biography

Osmeivy Ortega graduated from both the San Alejandro Art Academy and the Superior Art Institute (ISA) in Havana, Cuba. He also studied at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, Sweden and obtained a master’s degree on Offset Printing at the KKV Workshops in Stockholm, Sweden. Besides, he obtained residencies in the United States, Germany, Sweden and Mexico. He is also a professor at the Superior Art Institute (ISA) in Havana, Cuba and has taught various engraving workshops in Cuba and Sweden.

Osmeivy Ortega was awarded various prizes amongst which a special acknowledgment by the Tamarind Institute of the University of New Mexico, United States, at the 6th National Meeting of Engraving, Havana, Cuba.

His work can be found in private collections as well as in public collections such as the AMBA Foundation in Brazil, the Rockefeller Foundation and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Cleveland (MOCA), in the United States and the Black Stone Foundation in the United Kingdom.
