“The Night Owl”; In private collection, United States.
A portrait of a tree on a linen canvas. Painted in the academic style, in chiaroscuro. This tree could be a tieulle or an oak. It is in darkness but lit from the front, the background is dark, almost black.
The tree is predominantly anise green, wormwood green, with golden yellow highlights. The whole thing has a rather warm tone.
It looks like it sparkles in the night, it is lit by a white light.
The chamfers of the canvas are painted white.
