Description
This work depicts a misty landscape of mystical beauty. A jagged wooden fence cuts through the scene, leading the eye to a solitary tree, captured with striking precision. The contrast between the rigid lines of the fence and the delicate silhouette of the tree evokes a striking duality. Fog envelops the setting, creating an ethereal and shadowy atmosphere, while the faintly visible grassy ground adds a touch of terror and mystery. Shades of gray and brown accentuate the sense of melancholy, making the location both isolated and intriguing. Roland Avard is an artist whose photography gradually tends toward painting. He explores blur and disappearance to better reveal the essence of forms. His poetic approach questions memory and the imprint of the visible. He thus seeks a subtle balance between photography and painting, between trace and abstraction.
Presentation
Roland Avard, born in France in1950, lives and works in Auvergne (France). Although he had always been drawn to photography, it was not until 2010 that he was able to devote himself to it. Because he knows it well, nature is where he can best express himself.
His photographs are not of landscapes but rather the translation of emotions felt during his walks. "My photographs are encounters: the bridging between a feeling inside of me and a commonplace environment that is part of my everyday life."
His photography has two goals: visually translate emotions and share them. This very personal characteristic of his approach obliges him to constantly search for the words and expressions that best correspond to the subjects that emerge (a winter scene, or one of autumn, macro, etc.).
