Animal bronzes, Landscape painting, Inspired by his past as an architect, Poetic and sensual figuration, Rigor of construction.
Biography
After studying at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he became an architect, then turned to monumental sculpture, composed with landscape and architecture. He thus responded to around thirty commissions in varied materials and expressions.
At the same time, he developed bronzes, often animal-based. His language sought a balance between precise anatomy, symbolic dimension, and restrained lyricism. The composition was based on precise drawing and proportions, which allowed for freedom and fantasy of gesture. In order to emphasize the eloquence of a movement, he created gaps, representing only a part of the subject.
Painting has taken on an important role in recent years. It reflects the dialogue between drawing, materials and architecture, between line, surface and volume. It composes empty or constructed spaces, inhabited by characters, as if staged.
His works oscillate between a secret and tender intimacy, and the often baroque lyricism of a grand theatricality. In a very personal drawing, we feel his ambition to simply express life.
