Chechu Álava was born in Piedras Blancas, Asturias (Spain) in 1973. She lives and works in Paris. Her work has been shown in numerous institutional exhibitions: in 2020 she was the subject of a solo exhibition Rebeldes at the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum (Madrid); his work has also been exhibited at the Museu Fundacion Juan March (Palma de Mallorca), the Lazaro Galdiano Museum (Madrid), the Barjola Museum (Gijon, Spain), the Cervantes Institute (Rome), the Fine Arts Museum of Castellón de la Plana (Castellón, Spain), Carré de Baudouin (Paris), Cité des Arts (Paris). It is part of important public collections: the Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias, the Spanish Ministry of Culture, the Government Headquarters of the Municipality of Asturias, the DKV Foundation as well as private collections from various countries: Colombia, Mexico , Germany, Portugal, United States, France, United Kingdom, South Africa, South Korea and Spain. In 2014, his work was selected by an international jury to be part of the “100 Painters of Tomorrow" catalog, published by Thames and Hudson.
