A Belgian artist, Nathalie Van As was born in 1972.
She studied painting during 20 years besides two famous artists, Roby Hoffmann and Malmedy.
With their teachings, Nathalie Van As started creating using techniques such as watercolors and ink. But soon, these methods seemed to limit her in her willingness to work the colors.
Completely abstract in style, her paintings are structured according to their colors which interact with each other. They overlap, communicate, or ignore each other and can reveal a form or dissimulate another.
In this geometric dance, stories are born. Narrations that Nathalie Van As explores according to the events or the moments that have had an impact in her own story.
It is landscapes or bodies that Nathalie Van As represents with this apparent abstraction. They are the protagonists of her pieces and stories. Nature and human beings are portrayed as well, with the same features and forms. All curves and ondulations.
Nathalie Van As has exhibited her work at the theater l'Autre Rive in Polleur in 2011, she was supported by the Cultural Center of Theux.
