Lionel Caro was born in August 1954 in Lorient. He is a self-taught painter who lives and works in Britain, where he is particularly interested in lights. Since 1982, he has exhibited regularly in France and abroad.
At first figurative, his style becomes more and more abstract. Through his works the spirit of drawing and the taste of movement are revealed. It is inspired by natural elements and their own energy, “it is the canvas that dictates things.”
Painting, he says, is going to the other, it is trying to transmit to him “the inner vibration of nature”.
When we look at Lionel Caro’s paintings, the colors impose themselves in a musical way. As a music lover, it influences him to paint “jazz offering her a space of freedom and creation like no other music”.
