Biography

Photographer and author, born in 1969 in Paris, Christine Chanu began her photographic work following the fortuitous discovery of silver and negative prints by her grandfather Georges Maurice Chanu, himself a grandson of a photograph collector and photographer at his wasted time. This discovery brought him to the United States where certain works from the period 1948-1953 were sold on the art market. She then seeks to understand the meaning of these works by initiating herself in this practice of writing with light. Today, Christine Chanu combines snapshots of the environments she encounters every day in her working life, with a conscious and patient elaboration of more intimate and personal stories and compositions.
