Biography
In her paintings, Joke Frima shows nature that has not yet been plucked and stolen by human hands. Arid leaves or wilted flowers are rendered as precisely as green, fresh sprouts and buds. Frima knows how to bring rhythm, peace, balance and ordinary attention to an everyday subject. Harmonious colors are important in Frima's work. Harmonious colors are important in Frima's work. Her main years of study were with Nerina Simi, in Florence, Italy (1976-1985). Upon returning to the Netherlands, her home country, in 1985, Joke Frima began a career as an independent artist. Joke Frima's work is mainly exhibited in galleries in the Netherlands, but also in numerous galleries around the world. Her works have been the subject of numerous articles and publications. She received a lot of awards.
Joke Frima lives in France, in the Nièvre, since 1999.
