Giovanni Alfonsetti

Giovanni Alfonsetti was born in Mesagne (Brindisi) in 1939. After classical studies, he graduated in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Lecce. A professor of plastic disciplines in high schools, he has participated in important art exhibitions and events in Italy and abroad. Since the 1970s his plastic research has had as its main theme the human figure perceived in its symbolic and existential dimension and stylistically connoted by the languages of Abstract Expressionism and Informalism. In the current research prevails an orientation towards spatiality and total geometric abstraction, with themes inferred from mathematical and physical sciences, thanks to the assumption of new materials and techniques and the introduction of color.He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Italy, Monte Carlo, Paris, Germany, and Greece, and his works are in private and public collections.
