Biography
Clarke Toritseju Favour also known as Toju Clarke is a Nigerian Sgrafitto and Digital artist with an international record in Art. His search for a unique language of expression has seen him explore art traditionally by scratching on canvas using needles and digitally over the past four years. Sgraffito, which is a scratching process, is a style of art he has been developing for the past five years and counting. His personal experiences, culture, identity, and mental health have all motivated me.
The goal is to always scrape out his emotions through expressions that relate to his vision. “My creative process begins with the thoughts that annoy me, then moves on to my diary and notepad, and then to scratching out on linen or drawing on the screen. What keeps me sane is delivering a well-thought-out painting. All this and more have informed my interest in creating my body of work."
