ZBYLUT GRZYWACZ (b. 1939 - d. 2004)
A painter, a sculptor, an art critic. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, later was a professor there. Grzywacz was one of the founders and members of the "Wprost Group"; in the sixties he participated in The Independent Culture Movement. He is a representative of a distinct expressive realism with publicist flair. In the times of Polish Socialist Republic he uncovered in his art the existential degradation of man by paraphrasing some of the famous pieces of art and sacral themes. In the middle of the eighties Grzywacz changed his palette to a more bright one and gave up publicism. (From "Encyclopaedia of Polish Art." by Kluszczynski publishing house)
