Born in 1974 in Porto, Cristina Troufa is a Portuguese painter.
She joined the Fine Arts College in Porto and specialized in painting. Right after her graduation, she began to look for her pictorial style and experimented with various techniques.
Today she has confirmed her style and is known for her precision and detailed work, mostly with brown colored backgrounds and a play on shapes with a negative appearance.
Her favorite theme is human beings, she experiments with different emotions especially loneliness. In her individual and collective compositions, Cristina Troufa focuses on facial expression. To make her spectators focus on this aspect, she leaves the bodies incomplete. Their clothes are succinctly drawn, the skin however is detailed and colored, allowing to create a true human relationship between her subjects and the spectator.
