Biography

Born in 1960, Day Bowman is a British visual artist. Her striking visual depictions of coastal landscapes have garnered critical acclaim since the inception of her career, largely owing to their tangential exploration of the visual boundary between abstraction and figuration. Having graduated from the Chelsea College of Art, the artist has developed a style which is characterized by broad and spontaneous brushstrokes, ink spills and vibrant color. Today, the artist lives and works in the United Kingdom.

Bowman has won several awards in recognition of her work. She was awarded the Winsor & Newton Prize in 2020, as well as first place in the Anima Mundi International Painting Prize. She also showcased her work in the 2019 Venice Biennale. Elsewhere, her work is permanently featured in private collections across the globe, including at the Priseman Seabrook Collection and the Yantai Art Museum Collection in China.
