Biography
Artist Statement:
I am presently completing a new series of prints, monotypes and mixed media pieces. I am most familiar with and comfortable working in the areas of traditional lithography, polyester plate lithography, mokulito and waterless lithography. I continue to explore new avenues of visual expression through the art of printmaking. Collaboration with other artists continues to play an active role in my own artwork. This creative interaction is very exciting to me and has a direct or indirect lasting effect on my artwork.
Most recently, my imagery is expressed through floral motifs and develops very spontaneously. Through the creative process, each resulting artwork becomes more or less abstracted to shape and form. My imagery is dependent upon achieving a balance between illusion and the evocative quality of abstract mark making. My favorite surfaces to work on are paper, mylar and canvas. Being primarily a printmaker, I employ printmaking applications in all my work, combining many different layers that often deviate from my initial intentions. Fundamental elements contribute not only to visual information, but an analytical facet, an emotional response, a purely tactile quality, or any combination of these depending on my concerns with imagery, idea, or media used in the development of each particular piece.
