"Loving look" - painting from the series “Closeness"
In this series of small, round paintings, the viewer is invited into the intimate space of human perception. Each work is devoted to a single sense — eyes, lips, ears, hands. Shown in close-up, these familiar parts of the body become symbols of attention, trust, and inner openness.
From one painting to the next, we seem to draw nearer to a person, approaching the boundary of their personal space. This gradual closeness mirrors the way we allow someone into our inner circle in real life — when our senses become most alert and receptive.
The soft pastel palette enhances the feeling of warmth, tenderness, and quiet. The circular shape of each piece evokes a sense of wholeness and protection — a moment of unity and trust.
The series transforms fragments of the human body into a language of emotion, a visual metaphor for intimacy, where every glance, touch, or word becomes an act of mutual recognition.
Presentation
Ella Jensen is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intricate relationship between humans, animals, and the natural world. Born and raised in Izhevsk, Russia, she graduated from the St. Petersburg University of Technology and Design in 2010 and earned her Master of Arts degree from De Montfort University in the United Kingdom the same year.
After living in Tallinn, Estonia, where she developed her artistic voice across various disciplines, Jensen moved to Spain in 2016. Currently based in Barcelona, she actively exhibits her work in solo and group shows across the city. Recent highlights include exhibitions at Dalmases Art Gallery, Shimmy Art Gallery, and the HotSpot Cultural Center, as well as collaborations with the Barcelona Creative Association (ART.Beats).
Working across painting, illustration, ceramics, and mural art, Jensen creates visual narratives where natural forms merge and coexist. Her compositions often intertwine human, animal, and botanical imagery—forming surreal ecosystems that reveal the delicate interdependence of all living things. Through poetic symbolism and organic rhythm, she reflects on humanity's estrangement from nature while encouraging a reconnection grounded in empathy and care.
Her artistic philosophy emphasizes mindfulness and respect for the fragile beauty of the planet, calling viewers to rediscover their emotional bond with the natural world.
