Biography

Günter Brus, born in 1938, was a key figure in post-war European avant-garde art. His works often combined elements of body art, performance, and photographic documentation, pushing the limits of artistic expression. His uncompromising vision led to both critical acclaim and legal prosecution, cementing his status as one of the most provocative artists of his generation.

He is a key figure in Viennese Actionism. Brus is widely known for his groundbreaking and provocative performance art, which delved into intense self-exploration and challenged societal conventions.

His work is included in major museum collections worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Museum Belvedere Vienna, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Albertina Museum in Vienna.
