Sabine Gleser

Germany

I've always been fascinated by creating things with my hands, letting my thoughts run free, whether it's goldsmithing or working with soft clay that's so easily shaped.

Biography

Earth, fire, air, and water—these are the four elements that make Raku ceramics and archaic firing techniques, such as pit firing, barrel firing, and vat firing, so exciting and fascinating. The individual firing techniques create unique and inimitable objects. The sculptures are meticulously constructed using a hand-building technique. Due to the special firing processes and post-treatment, the final results cannot be precisely predicted. The precision of the production process, coupled with an inner sense of letting go, is both an inspiration and a source of fascination for Sabine Gleser. The results continually motivate her.

Her sculptures are constructed, some abstract, some inspired by nature. It is important to her to depict movement in her works, often achieved through special glazes and surface treatments. Not standing still, but constantly evolving and moving forward.
