Art is the frontier between two worlds; the one we see and the one we imagine.
Biography
The Brazilian sculptor, designer and graphic artist, Waltercio Caldas, was born in 1946. He studied art at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro. He was a supporter of the Brazilian Neo-Concrete movement, seeking to break away from the scientific side to art.
Waltercio Caldas explores perception through mysterious, transparent and minimalist sculptures, which almost step into the architectural space. When he moved to New York in 1985, he started to introduce non-transparent materials into his sculptures.
He exhibits his work in Brazil, at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro, and in Sao Paulo, as well as in Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands and the United States. He received the Art Award from the National Museum of Brasilia.
