Biography
Joel Mpah Dooh lives and works in Bonendale, Cameroon. He graduated from the Municipal Conservatory of Fine Arts of Amiens (France). He has participated in several group and solo exhibitions in Africa and Europe.
He has made several frescoes for the city of Douala. He exhibited at Dak'Art in 1998, 2000 and 2007, at the Mam Galleries in Douala and at the Atiss Gallery in Dakar. Joël Mpah Dooh exhibited in 2008 and 2012 at the Johannesburg Biennale (South Africa).
His first works on canvas depicted wiry personages expressing the pain and quest of deliverance. He then replaced a writing similar to graffiti with a very urban writing.
Designer of luminous works on Perspex, he was invited in 2007 by the Blachère Foundation in Apt (France) to inaugurate the cycle of residencies "art and enterprises".
