Peng Pi

Born in 1984 - China

Pi Peng is a Chinese artist born in Yueyang, Hunan Province in 1984. He lives and works in Beijing. From 2003 to 2007 he studied at the Guangzhou Institute of Fine Arts, department of Printmaking. His work Memory for Youth was nominated for the Wang Jialiang Scholarship, and won the Second Prize of the Mali Art Scholarship.

Peng Pi was one of the young artists recommended by 80's Art Salon. He participated in 2007 Songzhuang Artist Great Exhibition, "99 Camps, 99 Dreams" Beijing Art Festival Affiliated Exhibition, and 2007 China Contemporary Art Literature Exhibition.

He specialized in woodcuts, but little by little started to paint in oil, which gives him more freedom of movement. This possibility of movement and the rich color palette he uses allow him to translate his emotions. His paintings embrace ideas such as freedom and the emotional transformations of today's youth.
