Olivier Julia

Born in 1952 - France

Olivier Julia is an artist born in 1952 in France. He graduated in graphic arts from the Rietveld Academy of Armsterdam.

In the beginning of his career, he did monumental canvases with graphic and minimalist motifs. After some time, he started exploring the third dimension, with objects and sculptures carved in wood and painted by him. The colors that he uses are dark: black, gray and blue tonalities. Olivier Julia works on the contrasts between lines and curves, between opens and closed, between lights and shadows.

Olivier Julia exhibits his work all around the world. Some of his pieces are part of famous private and public collections, such as The Royal Library of Belgium, ING, KPN, TNT Post, and the Archives of the city of Armsterdam.
