Anne Marie Rognon

Born in: 1969

Translation in progress

In her paintings and installations, Anne-Marie Rognon finds her inspiration in “things”; conversations or situations seen and heard in everyday life mobilizing her eye and her imagination. Her videos define this eye in voiceover. This voice gives another meaning to the filmed images where humour and sometimes irony are mixed together. In most of her works, Anne-Marie Rognon uses a change in scale which obliges the viewer to come closer or to stand back. The corners of the walls and small niches are filled with small coloured objects because she likes to use the places where we would not expect to see them. The titles of her works are important as they underline a meaning or a way of seeing something and are a real complement to her work. The works are spontaneous and her paintings are sometimes a series of one and the same subject, often leading to new series on other themes.
