Thierry Bigaignon, born in 1972 in Paris, leaves and works in Paris. He studied in ICP - International Center of Photography in New York with famous names in photography as Joel Meyerowitz. He is also graduate of History and Political Science at the London Metropolitan University.
After the first series “Ergo Vivo” in which he frontally attacks the theme of life, death and the passing of time, he is now committed to create a more intimate photography, more refined. The series "Essentia", easily defined as abstract expressionism, is a homecoming of photography work on light and forms it creates. Finally, the series "Somnio", very minimalist, features some evocation of dreams. »
Thierry Bigaignon, with his own look and his own sensibility, likes to play with shapes to reveal only a part of reality. Particularly appreciative of the work of Andre Kertesz, Renato d'Agostin, Aaron Siskind or Ralph Gibson, it is definitely Saul Leiter with whom he feels closest.
“Saul Leiter had a unique style and created a new school that I would call “suggestive figuration”, as he excelled in the art of showing only little, to better suggest the essential. This is what most fascinates me in photography and in art in general”. Thierry Bigaignon said.
