Presentation

Noëlle Dassa is a French artist born in 1965, now working in Italy and in France. She studied fine arts in Sèvre before attending the Camondo School. Noëlle Dassa then settled in Rome where she improved her gilding and trompe-l'œil techniques in different workshops.

Her art is inspired by her work as an art restorer. She relies on her mastery of artisanal techniques, her knowledge of material properties, as well as her desire to find hints of the creation process in her work.

Her primary material is golden paper, which she then transforms, following the rhythms and forms (full / empty, squares / lines) on a medium prepared using old techniques (successive poses of gesso di Bologna and rabbit skin glue, sanding, application of shellac).

Initially guided exclusively by aesthetic and technical compositional choices, Noëlle's research then took on a new direction following its fortuitous encounter with an object from the industrial factory: the barcode. Initially a simple source of graphic inspiration, its pattern is enlarged and emptied, a priori, of all signification

Her work has been exposed during individual and collective exhibits in France, New York or Japan.
