She tears, Eugenie ... She tears and thus builds her work. To the fullest, armed with Scotch® tape, she tears and transmutes selected extracts from newspapers, books, period images, and today captures the inter-shots of cult videos and films. Various facts or verses by Baudelaire, offbeat icons, committed artists or romantic heroines, she selects from her digital art sublimated with paint and / or spray can, the substrate of what gradually becomes a painting. And like so many bandages on a raw wound, in small painted strips where words, symbols and colors adhere, she composes. On the floor, on the floor, the Scotch® adhesive strips as a brush, from the bottom of her guts she scratches and patiently “tape” what speaks to her. And little by little, under the thickness of the Scotch® tape, new images of its heroes emerge on a canvas, with that part of shadow and mystery that makes them so deadly. Her story with Scotch® tape begins like an April Fool's Day, April 1, 1999. Living in Paris, in Montmartre, surrounded by artists, she seeks in art (circus, song) her saving means of expression. I was unaware then until this day, that a simple roll of Scotch® adhesive became a Phoenix, and the major instrument of my creations ”. Thus was born his very first “taped” work. From then on, the beauty will not stop tearing and putting back layers on the printed ink, on her own life as a gentle afterglow. The young self-taught artist, encouraged by a few gallery owners who believe in her, begins to sell, asserts her gestures and polishes a very personal technique. Eugénie Fauny was born on May 18, 1974 in ST-LO in La Manche. Eugenie Fauny has this quality of putting bandages wherever it hurts. The beauty of these disappeared beings that we miss so much, drawn by his scotches gives them a modernity like the drawings of Ernest Pignon Ernest. The faces or situations of the present time become exhilarating with the adhesive tapes which pile them up like the sun on the bodies on beautiful summer days. The artist through his creation brings things to life without nostalgia or sadness. Finally, it's like the bandages, it doesn't make you forget anything about the pain, but it is appeased, controlled, contained. Artistic creation, Culture, is always an act that leads to light, both minds and societies. The judicious choices of Eugenie's paintings allow visitors to look at life differently and to discover still unexplored things because the artist inevitably reveals hidden sides through bandages, which makes it humorous and philosophical.
