Biography
Ahmed Jaride was born in 1954 in Casablanca, where he still lives and works, Benslimane being his second home. He was a Professor in a training center in 1981, a philosophy teacher four years later, and then became an aesthetics professor in Casablanca’s Fine Arts school in 1998. Alike many other Loft Art gallery’s artists, Jaride was soon devoted to the development of the Moroccan art scene.
Advisor of the Minister of culture, Director of the Minister of culture’s cabinet, he also cofounded the Grand National Exhibition of Fine Arts in 2004. Founder of a local contemporary art magazine in 2006, Ahmed Jaride organized and participated in numerous symposiums and arts’ events locally and internationally. Since 1987, Jaride took part in exhibitions in dozens of countries in every corner of the world : Lyon, Marseille, Brussels, Madrid, Berlin, Helsinki, Brasilia, Damascus, Cairo, Alexandria, Kuwait, Tehran, Timbuktu, United Arab Emirates, Oman…
His last solo show took place at Loft Art Gallery, in 2013.
