Katja Loher

Born in 1979 - Switzerland

Katja Loher was born in 1979 in Zurich, Switzerland and lives and works in New York City. Loher gains her diploma of l'Ecole Supérieur des Beaux Arts, Département Art et média d'Art, at Basel, Switzerland in 2004.

Since then Loher's work has appeared internationally in many solo and group exhibitions and is featured in many private and public collections. In the last years she received several awards including TPC CreaTVty Award from the Swiss TV Production Center, artist residencies in New York, Berlin and Beijing.

Much of Loher's work addresses ecological issues and the future of humanity, dependent on overlooked details such as the plight of bees, potential abuses of technology, and the imperative for collective consciousness. Beauty is omnipresent as an artistic statement of the essence of life sustaining processes supporting our planet.
