Biography

Painter, Comtesse began his exhibitions in 1964. After having obtained the Federal Fine Arts scholarship twice, he traveled to France, Italy and India. He regularly presents his works in several Swiss cities and abroad. Director of the Maximilien de Meuron Academy in Neuchâtel, he teaches art history and publishes several monographs on Neuchâtel painters (Charles and Aimé Barraud, Janebé, William Roethlisberger). Comtesse's painting, resolutely figurative, is characterized by the richness of colors and an intense light that permeates his favorite themes: aquatic landscapes, still lifes and figures. The works of Comtesse can be found in several public and private collections (Switzerland, USA, France and Germany).
