Charles-Christopher Hill

Charles Christopher Hill was born in 1948 in Greensburg (Pennsylvania); he lives and works in Los Angeles. He studied at the University of California, Irvine.

Cave paintings are a source of inspiration for Charles Christopher Hill in his recent works. The artist has taken as a model marks and drawings discovered on the walls of the prehistoric caves during his travels in Europe, and more specifically in Northern Spain. He has been impressed by the most abstract of the drawings on these walls, rows of spots and points. Charles Christopher Hill has kept the simplest representations, and then distanced himself from these primitive forms to create a graphical pattern of minimalist colored dots in acrylic, in order to keep only the mystery of the original drawing.

He has shows regularly in the United States and in Europe, especially at the Rocket Gallery in London, at the Baudoin Lebon Gallery in Paris and at the Andreas Brüning Gallery in Dusseldorf.
